Mr Lawrence was thrilled to receive an invitation to Buckingham Palace to watch our latest Gold DofE Award students receive their coveted Gold Awards..

On Thursday I was honoured to be invited to Buckingham Palace alongside parents to watch students from New Bridge School receive their Gold DofE awards. It was a glorious day weather wise, very much in contrast to when the students were completing their award in a very wet area of North Wales!!

On arrival at the palace we entered through the front gates and were taken into the palace gardens. We were given some time to look around the gardens (which were stunning) before being briefed on what would be happening during the presentation..

Our students were to be presented with their awards by John Suchet (former ITN news presenter) and HRH Prince Edward! Our students Alex, Charlie, Jordan and Tony looked very smart in their suits lined up in the North West DofE groups waiting for the presentation to begin..

After an inspiring speech from John Suchet (who highlighted there was no need to panic about their futures if they were unsure about what they wanted to do yet)..

..Prince Edward arrived and had a chat with all the young people collecting their awards. He questioned them on where they were from and what things they had done on their expeditions. I was very proud to see students from our school chatting confidently about their experiences. Our students collected their awards and had their photographs taken..

We spent the next half hour meeting and chatting with various people including celebrities such as Levi Roots, Caroline Grant and Ellie Taylor as well as other DofE groups..

It was a wonderful day that all our students, parents and I will never forget and was well deserved for the years of hard work the students had undertaken completing their Bronze, Silver and Gold awards.
Our students made me very proud and were good ambassadors for New Bridge School with their patience, politeness and maturity. Well done, guys!
