As you may be aware, we had a very eventful week which started will a call to say that Ofsted would be visiting on Tuesday and Wednesday. Unfortunately, I’m unable at this point to share details of their inspection however I can report that the comments received were very positive. I’d like to thank our students for showing just how amazing they are and our staff for their continuing hard work in placing students firmly at the centre of everything we do. I’d also like to say thank you to those parents who gave of their time to come and speak to the inspectors personally.
What is always a pleasure is having the opportunity to observe some amazing lessons within which our students are fully engaged, enjoying their learning and treating each other with respect, care and understanding. Great to see guys!
With Christmas fast approaching there is definitely a festive feel around the Learning Centre. Decorations are up and the Christmas songs have already started in lunchtime activities… “it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas………..”
Just a reminder that we are now collecting for the ‘Lighthouse Project’ in Oldham who are looking for the following donations:
- Chocolate treats
- Gift sets for men and women / Toiletries
- Toys for all ages
We are asking for parents, carers and students to bring in any of the above items to help. If you have any empty shoe boxes, please could you wrap them in festive wrapping paper and they can be filled with gifts for Christmas day. Likewise, if you have any spare Christmas wrapping paper that would also be greatly appreciated as our Employability group have offered to do the wrapping for us. Please hand in to Jill on reception who will ensure they are passed on.
When the Student Council met earlier this term, in addition to supporting national and local charities they also felt it was important to raised money for the Learning Centre itself, therefore on Thursday 19th December we are holding our very own Christmas Market where you will be able to buy a variety of gifts. We are also running a tombola stall so if you have anything you can donate, any items will be greatly appreciated. Again, please give any items to Jill on reception.
We will be sending letters out next week with full details of what’s on offer and our Christmas week activities.
The festive theme properly sets in next week as it’s ‘Christmas Show week’ at New Bridge School. We have a number of students taking part in performances next Wednesday and Thursday evening. If you have not already got your ticket, please contact the school site on 0161 883 2401 to book -I can guarantee you’ll come out singing!
Have a great weekend,
