21 May

There are a lot of things I love about my job, but if there’s one thing that really inspires me, it’s meeting people who share our values and support our vision of creating meaningful futures for every one of our pupils.  On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, I had the opportunity to do just that, as I was fortunate enough to be part of the panel interviewing for new teachers to join our team.  Our pupil numbers are continuing to grow and in September we will be welcoming more pupils through our doors than ever before.  With this in mind it’s crucial that we also grow our teaching team with the brightest and best and ensure that our pupils continue to experience the highest quality teaching.  It was really encouraging to meet enthusiastic, passionate and creative individuals who really want to make a difference.  I found it really exciting and energising to discuss their knowledge and experiences and the unique qualities they would bring to our learning community.  Ultimately, we were really successful in recruiting several new teachers.  I’m really looking forward to seeing them flourish in our New Bridge family and realising their ambitions to make a difference to our pupils.

One team that is already doing that is Mrs McAiney’s AB1 team, who feature in this week’s blog:

Over the past couple of weeks in AB1 we have enjoyed making our very own ‘Supertato’ and ‘Evil Peas’ which are linked to our book ‘Supertato.’

Our ‘Superheroes’ theme has provided us with lots of sensory activities that link to our story. We also really enjoyed deciding which ‘superpower’ each of the pupils possess and finding an appropriate action to demonstrate each one!

In Maths we have been focusing on patterns..

..using technology and taking turns around the interactive board. We have all worked very well with this.

One of the highlights of our week has been starting to access Ability Wheelz at Alexandra Park. It has been lovely to see all the pupils enjoy the time out in the community supported by their amazing staff team.

This face says it all!

We hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Until next week, take care and stay safe.
