This week the college have been involved with Teen Tech in which they worked within their pathway groups to think about creating a City of Tomorrow – thinking about global and environmental issues that have an impact on living! One of our Pre Intern groups has shared what they have been up to and how they got involved with Teen Tech..

This week our students have been settling back into New Bridge College life. The students have participated in the Teen Tech challenge!!

They have been considering the global and local challenges that need to be considered when building big cities of the future. For the project, the Pre-Intern 2 students had decided that they wanted to build a place where the homeless can go and get shelter and support. Students also decided this could be where children could learn about the natural environment. The idea of the homeless shelter growing their own food to be self sufficient sounds like a very good idea indeed!

Here are some pictures of the Pre-Intern 2 students working together, presenting their ideas designing and creating their building with Kevin leading the team as the Project Manager. Well done Kevin 👍

Our Pre-Interns have continued to work towards their Employability qualification, finishing any outstanding work and continuing their learning in Maths, English and ICT. On Thursday the students attended a remote classroom online assembly for KOOTH, a Mental Health and Well being community offering support for young people. This is an excellent resource offering free, safe anonymous support: www.kooth.com

Mr Newton is gearing up for a day of madness on Thursday – he will be taking on a sponsored 30-minute workout, EVERY HOUR, on the hour and all proceeds will go towards providing new equipment for the college gym. Good luck Mr Newton!!

Can I ask that families continue to lateral flow test! It is so important as lockdown starts to be lifted that we continue to keep ourselves and the college community safe. Those needing more lateral flow tests can pick them up from Shanaye at the office.

Next week we have a 4 day week as we will be breaking up for the Easter holidays on Thursday and returning on Monday 19th April.

I hope you have a lovely weekend,

Jaina
