Well, we have reached the end of term and the last day of our first full year here at Medtia Square. This time last year we were preparing for our Key Stage 5 pathways to move to the building and for a new group of Future Finders to join us in September. We were unsure how things would go and what impact the new building would have on our young people. Now we know it was a fantastic decision that has been absolutely the right choice for our students. Those on Future Finders and vocational pathways based here at Medtia have enjoyed the adult environment, the independence the building has offered, the access to the local community and the work placements our location has enabled them to experience. I am so pleased that we took this building on and it really is so rewarding to look back and to see what an impact it has had on our students.

Another development this year was taking on The Atrium Café over at First Choice Homes. Becci, Sammy and Toni have provided an excellent service to the staff at First Choice Homes Oldham and we have had over 50 students access work placements at the café over the last 6 months. One of those students, Abdul, gained the skills required for employment and moved into a paid job at The White Gate pub where he still works 16-20 hours per week. Another huge success for New Bridge!

On the last week of term we did more celebrating with the Record of Achievement ceremony over at school for Year 14 leavers and our Bridging the Gap graduation at the Royal Oldham Hospital..

It has been a week of reflecting on not only the past year but the past 7 or 8 years for many of our young people and it was heartwarming to hear first-hand just what an impact New Bridge has had on their lives. We are very proud of you all and wish you the very best of luck in the future.

Our pathways students had a fantastic end to the year too. They particularly enjoyed the Sports Day down at school and their end of year McDonald’s breakfast treat on the final morning!

All that is left to say is have a fantastic Summer holiday and we are looking forward to seeing you all back in September. Just a reminder that Digit4ll, Lumenus and Activ8 are back on Tuesday 5th September while our new Pre Internship pathway students are back on Thursday 7th September and our new Future Finders start with us on Monday 11th September.
