I was appointed to the Governing Body of New Bridge School in 2009 following my retirement from the school.
My interest in special education goes back many years having a (now adult) daughter with special needs. Over a period of sixteen years I was a member of the governing body of two special schools, initially as a parent governor, then as a voluntary organisation governor representing Mencap and finally as a staff governor.
On a voluntary basis, I am Secretary of the Terence O’Grady Club which is a social club for adults with learning disabilities. I have held that position for almost ten years, having been involved with the club for over twenty years.
As a member of the Multi Academy Trust I currently sit on the Committee for Audit and both the Pastoral and the Academic Boards. I enjoy the relationship I have with New Bridge pupils, students and staff and I am pleased to support the organisation, as Chair of Governors, as they continue to provide fantastic opportunities for our young people, both academically and socially.
