Welcome to New Bridge School
New Bridge School was established in Hollinwood, Oldham in 2004 and is a 300 place state-of-the-art secondary special school, developed specifically to meet the needs of statemented pupils and students from the age of 11 up to 19 years across two sites. The school is part of the New Bridge Group, belonging to the New Bridge Multi Academy Trust, and our 11-16 department is located in Hollinwood, Oldham and now shares the site with the new Hollinwood Academy which opened in September 2015. Our Post 16 department, New Bridge Learning Centre, is sited in the Fitton Hill area of Oldham.
At the heart of the school’s mission, “Learning together, learning for all, learning for life,” is the belief that all pupils, whatever their background or ability, will be successful and valued.
We provide a stimulating, inspirational environment for all to achieve. Our campus is equipped with specialist support and facilities that meet the individual requirements of our pupils to allow them to flourish. From the bright and attractive classrooms, ICT rooms, theatre, recording studios and hydrotherapy pool, we allow pupils to fully explore their talents and shine in those areas they most enjoy. We also have specialised provision for pupils who may be on the autisitic spectrum.
Our curriculum and philosophies provide opportunities for academic and social development to enhance life opportunities. Classes are small and teaching staff work closely alongside support staff to provide the very best learning experience through creative and innovative approaches which support a personalised learning journey.
In 2016 New Bridge School became a Teaching School and established the Learning for All Alliance, a group of SEND and mainstream primary and secondary schools. We are committed to improving achievement and raising attainment for our most vulnerable learners including those with SEND and those who are underachieving and non-statemented within both mainstream and specialist education. Our Teaching School Alliance partners with the everyonelearning@ Teaching School Alliance (Hawthorns School) and shares recognised areas of expertise that reflect school improvement needs. The key areas of work include Initial Teacher Training (ITT), Continuing Professional Leadership Development (CPLD) and School to School Support (STSS).
We are extremely proud of our school, the achievements of our learners, the expertise, dedication and commitment of our staff, our excellent facilities and our reputation for providing an outstanding education to pupils from Oldham and its surrounding boroughs. Ofsted also recognise us as ‘Outstanding’; please use the links on our Ofsted page to read the school’s latest Ofsted report and find further information.
Our website aims to provide you with key information, curriculum insight and news on the school. It’s also a valuable resource for pupils and parents/carers to help keep everyone involved and up-to-date. If you are unable to find the information you require, please contact us. We welcome any comments or suggestions you may have.
