Welcome to New Bridge School
New Bridge School was established in Hollinwood, Oldham in 2004 and is a 300 place state-of-the-art secondary special school, developed specifically to meet the needs of statemented pupils and students from the age of 11 up to 19 years.
The school is part of the New Bridge Group, belonging to the New Bridge Multi Academy Trust, and currently operates on two sites:
- New Bridge School, our 11-16 department, is located in the Hollinwood area of Oldham and now shares the site with our new sister school, Hollinwood Academy which opened in September 2015
- New Bridge Learning Centre, catering for students aged 16-19, is situated approximately 3 miles away in the Fitton Hill area of Oldham.
In addition, the school has internal outreach provision located at 3 other sites:
- Medtia Square, our new campus in Oldham town centre, provides a learning space and hub for students from our 16-19 population who access work-based learning through our innovative work experience programmes at various locations within Oldham. Students from three of our 14-19 Curriculum Pathways are also based at Medtia Square.
- Students on our Bridging the Gap Programme are based entirely on site with their employer with the support of job coaches at both The Royal Oldham Hospital and Manchester Metropolitan University.
At the heart of the school’s mission, “Learning together, learning for all, learning for life,” is the belief that all pupils, whatever their background or ability, will be successful and valued.
We provide a stimulating, inspirational environment for all to achieve. Our campus is equipped with specialist support and facilities that meet the individual requirements of our pupils to allow them to flourish. From the bright and attractive classrooms, ICT rooms, theatre, recording studios and hydrotherapy pool, we allow pupils to fully explore their talents and shine in those areas they most enjoy. We also have specialised provision for pupils who may be on the autisitic spectrum.
Our curriculum and philosophies provide opportunities for academic and social development to enhance life opportunities. Classes are small and teaching staff work closely alongside support staff to provide the very best learning experience through creative and innovative approaches which support a personalised learning journey.
We are extremely proud of our school, the achievements of our learners, the expertise, dedication and commitment of our staff, our excellent facilities and our reputation for providing an outstanding education to pupils from Oldham and its surrounding boroughs. Ofsted also recognise us as ‘Outstanding’; please use the links on our Ofsted page to read the school’s latest Ofsted report and find further information.
Our website aims to provide you with key information, curriculum insight and news on the school. It’s also a valuable resource for pupils and parents/carers to help keep everyone involved and up-to-date. If you are unable to find the information you require, please contact us. We welcome any comments or suggestions you may have.
