Well, what a busy few weeks Lumenus have had! Our Key Stage 5 students have now officially moved into Medtia Square and the staff have made the studio into a fantastic place to learn, complete with a classroom area and a rehearsal and performance space – we even have some mirrors and lights to practise our theatre makeup! Just look at all the space..

In preparation for our big New Bridge performance in the summer, the Key Stage 4 Lumenus group will be going up to Medtia to complete costumes and props in lessons and, of course, for rehearsals too..

We’ve looked at a number of performances and we have chosen Aladdin and Jasmine … we can’t wait for July (we have great plans for a flying magic carpet…..!!)

On Thursdays we are focusing on developing our performing arts skills and this term we are looking at what inspires us in Oldham. We started this by visiting Gallery Oldham – we loved the interactive parts of the gallery and found many interesting displays to stimulate our creativity, especially the life stories – wait and see what we develop over the coming months..

Did we ever mention that we do love a bit of dress up..

The diary is getting full of exciting opportunities for Lumenus including workshops with Dark Horse Theatre, a trip to see ‘The Grinch’ at Oldham College and performing at the Salvation Army in Shaw. We are keen to create links for our Performing Arts pathway and work in partnership with other professionals – if you would like to find out more, please get in touch!
