The Children and Families Act 2014 introduced a statutory duty on local authorities to develop and publish a Local Offer, which sets out what they expect to be available for local children and young people with SEN and disabilities across education, health and social care.
The Local Offer should include eligibility criteria for services where relevant and make it clear where to go for information, advice and support. It should be easy to understand, jargon free and structured in a way that relates to families’ needs.
Parents, carers, children and young people should be able to use the Local Offer to find out about the support and opportunities available in their area and how to access them.
Oldham’s Local Offer is published on the council website, please click here to view it.
POINT is a parent-run organisation that provides information and support to parents and carers of children and young people with additional needs who live in or access services in Oldham. Please click here for further details.
